The week starts with a double take. His wife has a friend from college coming to stay after a bad breakup, and when the friend arrives, the husband knows the face before anyone says a name. She is Riley Reid, in the story a world-famous name in adult films, and his wife, Anna, cheerfully tells her that he might be a fan.

Once Riley hears that his job keeps him in the house all day, she decides the two of them can keep each other company.

With Anna gone, Riley skips the small talk and asks about the marriage, starting with when the couple was last intimate. He says that is private. She answers that she knows it has been a while, because Anna tells her everything. He says his wife is always tired; Riley’s view is that he is not trying.

Then she brings up a drunken night when the couple had her old videos playing, which he insists happened only once. Riley calls that a compliment and suggests his interest that night was in her rather than in Anna. When she makes her move, he protests that she is his wife’s best friend. Her answer is that best friends share, and she closes by pointing to her years of experience.
